EARL, ROSE SHANKLIN
Mrs. Rose Shanklin Earl, 63, widow of William Earl, and daughter of the late James and Allie Wilder Shanklin, died at St. Joseph’s hospital at 7:00 a.m. Monday, Jan. 13. She is survived by five daughters, Mrs. J. S. Cole [Editor’s note: I believe this was really a stepdaughter.] of Nicholasville; Mrs. Fred Ballou of Richmond; Mrs. Taylor Swartz and Mrs. Thomas Costellio of Lexington; Mrs. James Bruner of Lancaster [I believe this was also a stepdaughter], two sons William Earl of Florida and Billy Earl of Richmond, Ind., a sister Mrs. Harry Baughn of Jessamine county. The body was brought to Guyn, Kurtz & Hager funeral home where services will be held Wednesday at 2:30 p.m., conducted by Rev. W. J. Arvin, pastor of the Christian church, and burial will be in the Maple Grove cemetery.

EASLEY, ALFRED
Died, at his residence on the Stamping Ground and Long Lick Pike, in Scott County, Nov. 6 (1907), after a long illness, from the effects of an attack of grip last spring, Mr. Alfred Easley, aged 72 years. He was born in Jessamine County, Sept. 7, 1835, but had spent the greater portion of his life in Scott County. He was a consistent member of the Stamping Ground Christian Church and his was an exemplary character. He was remarkably quiet and unobtrusive in his demeanor, correct in all his dealings with his fellowman, performing his duty as he saw it faithfully. Two sons, W.F. and J.A. and one daughter, Miss Florence, survive him. Funeral services were conducted at the Christian church, Friday morning by the pastor, Rev. Delcamp, assisted by Elder Hill, Dr. C.L. Ford and Elder J.W. Foster. Burial at Minorsville.

Bert P. Easley, 94, a former resident of Nicholasville, died at his home on Barbery Lane in Lexington, Friday, Feb. 9 (1962), after a long illness. He was a retired merchant and member of the Christian Church. Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Ella Mae Nelmes and Mrs. Martin Cooley, Jr., of Lexington; Mrs. Allie T. Carter, Nicholasville, and Mrs. Harland Close, of Denver, Colo.; four sons; Roger Easley, Nicholasville Postmaster, John Easley, Lexington; Joe and James Easley of Clinton, Iowa; two sisters Mrs. Nora Tatum and Mrs. Clara Welch, both of Nicholasville; a brother, F.C. Easley, of Chesapeake, Ohio; 20 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Guyn, Kurtz and Hager Funeral Home by the Rev. W.J. Arvin. Burial was in the Maple Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers were Thomas Young, Cecil Johnson, Vernon Johnson, Robert Earl Heathman, Garnett Rose, Charles T. Evans, Pat Burton and Charles M. Miller. Honorary bearers were Luther Bruner, A.C. EASLEY, FRANK C.
Frank C. Easley, 85, a native of Jessamine County, died at a nursing home in Ironton, Ohio, January 27 (1964) after a long illness. He was a retired employee of the Appalachian Power Company Service, in Chesapeake, Ohio. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Mary Mitchell Easley, of Chesapeake; a foster-daughter, Mrs. Jenivie Legg, of ElCajon, California; a sister, Mrs. Nora Easley Tatman; of Nicholasville; several nieces and nephews, including Postmaster Roger Easley, Mrs. Allie T. Carter and Mrs. Waldon Sparks, of Nicholasville.
Funeral services were held on Thursday at the Snider Funeral Home in Chesapeake, Ohio, after which the body was taken to Dunbar, West Va., with another service conducted on Friday at the Gattens Funeral Home in Poca, West Va. Burial was in the Anderson Cemetery at Poca.

EASLEY, JAMES WILLIAM
J.W. Easley, aged 84 years, died at the home of his son, F.C. Easley, 225 Carlisle Avenue, Lexington, Sunday, Aug. 20 (1922). He is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Manford Fain and Mrs. W.H. Carter, of this county; Mrs. E.A. Welch, of Wilmore; Mrs. Pearl Mullen, of Muskogee, Mich; Mrs. G.H. Talman, of Ashwood, Tenn; three sons, B.P. Easley, of Nicholasville; F.C. Easley of Lexington; R.M. Easley, of Kenton, Ohio, and thirty-nine grandchildren and twenty-nine great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. The remains were brought to the home of his son, B.P. Easley, here and the funeral was held at the grave in the Ferrell Graveyard at Little Hickman Tuesday afternoon besides his wife, who died thirty-four years ago.

EASLEY, JOHN
John S. Easley, 77, of 115 Barberry Lane, the husband of the late Mabel Cardwell Easley, died Saturday evening (June 1988) at his residence. He was a former owner of Easley Nelmes and Rosemont Florist. He was born in Fayette County, Kentucky and son of the late Bert and Ella Miller Easley. Mr. Easley was a member of the Nicholasville Christian Church. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, and was a veteran of WWII in the U.S. Army.
Surviving are three sisters, Ella Nelmes and Anna Cooley, both of Lexington, Catherine Close, Monument, Colorodo; one brother, Roger Easley, Nicholasville; and a number of nieces and nephews, and cousins. Funeral services were held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday at the W.R. Milward Mortuary-Southland conducted by the Rev. Ronald G. Hepp. Burial was in the Lexington Cemetery. Active bearers were Tommy Hendren, William Hornbeck, Alvin Warner, John Mark Easley, John Ritchey, and Guy Bartlett. Honorary bearers were Bert Henderson, Jimmy Easley, Gary Easley, Edgel Hutchinson, and A.A. Smither. Funeral Services were held Monday, Nov. 5 at 2 p.m. at the Guyn, Kurtz, & Hager funeral home here for William Easley, 82, a retired Jessamine County farmer who died Nov. 3 (1956) at his home on the Sulphur Well Road. He was a native of Jessamine County and a member of the Methodist Church. Survivors include a niece, Mrs. Leonard Burton, Aurora, Ind. The Rev. J.H. Igleheart officiated and burial was in the Maple Grove Cemetery here.

EASLEY, WILLIAM J.
William J. Easley, 48, of Lexington, horticulturist at the United States veteran’s hospital on the Leestown Pike, died Monday afternoon at the institution after an illness of three weeks. Mr. Easley, who had been employed at the veteran’s hospital for the past nine years, received his education at the Threlkled private school in Nicholasville and the University of Kentucky.
Surviving him are his wife, Mrs. Margaret Bowman Easley; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. B.P. Easley of Nicholasville; a son, Harold Easley; two daughters, Jane and Betty Lou Easley; four brothers, Joe Easley, Detroit, James B. EASLEY, WILLIAM T.
Funeral services were held Saturday morning at 11:00 o'clock at the W.R. Milward Mortuary in Lexington for Wm. T. Easley, aged 73, a retired carpenter, who died Wednesday night, Feb. 7 (1945), at St. Joseph's Hospital. Deceased was a native of Jessamine County, a son of the late John and Elizabeth Davis Easley. He had resided in Lexington for many years. He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Leland Blakeman of Lexington, and Mrs. Margaret Miller of Nicholasville, and one brother, J.W. Easley of Butlerville. Rev. J. Archar Gray conducted the funeral and burial was in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

ECKLER, EVERETT ATWOOD
Everett Atwood Eckler, 61, of Nicholasville, Kentucky, died May 6, 1982 at the Harrison Nursing Home after a long illness. He was a member of the Nicholasville Baptist Church, veteran of World War II, and a former employee of the Old Hunter Hardware Company. He was a native of Jessamine County and the son of the late Everett and Minnie Johns Eckler. Survivors are one daughter, Mrs. Charlene Crabtree of Lexington; three sons, Jim and John Eckler of Lexington and William Eckler of Nicholasville; and nine grandchildren. Funeral services wil be Monday at Betts and West Funeral Home in Nicholasville. Burial will be in Camp Nelson National Cemetery in Jessamine County, Kentucky.

ECKLER, MINNIE JOHNS
Mrs. Minnie Johns Eckler, 76, 2112 Broadway, died October 7, 1968 at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky. She was a member of the Nicholasville Baptist Church and a former employee of the Jessamine County school system. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Frances Reynolds of Nicholasville, two sons, Everett A. Eckler of Nicholasville, and Jimmy Eckler of Lexington; three sisters, Mrs. Addie Wallman of Nicholasville, Mrs. Eli Bevin of Streeter, Illinois, Mrs. Pearl Mastin of Lexington; and three grandchildren. The body is at Betts and West Funeral Home.

EDMISTON, HUGH
Hugh Edmiston, 76 of Nicholasville, died at his home on Tuesday Aug 20, 2000. He was born in Pikeville, the son of the late Leonard Edmiston and Myrtle Edmiston Byrd. He is survived by four children, Sherry Buckley, Hugh Edmiston, Jr., Frances Hammack and Mary Edmiston; 5 grandchildren, Melissa Cross, Mandy Buckley, Andrew Edmiston, a great grandson, Andre Edmiston, a brother, David Harold Byrd, a sister, Jean Vanderpool, and his former wife, Gladys Edmiston. A memorial service was held on Friday at St. Luke Catholic Church. Betts and West Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Admiral Dales English, 54, a native of Nicholasville, died in Cleveland, Ohio, at the Cleveland Clinic, August 15, (1957). Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Marie Johnson English; two sons; two brothers, Chester English, Nicholasville and Robert English, Florida. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon, Aug. 19, at the Guyn, Kurtz and Hager Funeral Home by the Rev. William R. Craig. Burial was in the Maple Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers were Bob English, Clarence Robinson, F. E. Twaddell, Edward Johns, Buell English and Wilbert Cobb. Buell English, 78, Lexington Road, Lancaster, a native of Jessamine County, died Thursday, August 1 (1985) at the Fort Logan Hospital in Stanford after a long illness. He was the son of the late Christopher Columbus English and Claudia Davis English. He was a retired farmer and paint Contractor and a former owner of the Riverview Restaurant, and a member of the Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Church. Survivors are a son, Bobby English of Nicholasville; a stepson, Delbert Cates of Florida; a stepdaughter, Doris Moberly of Paint Lick; three sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Robinson of Nicholasville; Mrs. Elva Lee and Mrs. Ruth Jones, both of Lake Charles, La.; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the Ramsey Funeral Home in Lancaster with the Rev. Bryce McCulley officiating. Burial was in the Lancaster Cemetery. Pallbearers were Buford Murphy, Fred Simpson, Jr., Whitey Cobb, Billy Clay Johns and Arby Johns. Visitation was held at the funeral home.

George Davis English, of Hamilton, Ohio, died November 1 (1977). He was a native of Jessamine County and a son of the late Christopher C. English and Claudie Davis English. ENGLISH, GEORGE ROBERT
George R. English, 63, of Lexington, a brother of Mrs. Albert Sewell, of Nicholasville, died at the St. Joseph's Hospital, Dec. 2 (1958). He suffered a heart attack earlier in the day at his home at 243 Lincoln Avenue. He was a native of Jessamine County, and a son of the late Leroy and Lula Brumfield English. He was a retired motion picture projectionist, and a member of the Motion Picture and Stagehands Union, the Loyal Order of the Moose, Lodge No. 2044, and a member and deacon of Victory Christian Church. Besides his sister, he is survived by a stepdaughter, Mrs. S. P. Sebastian, Glendale Springs, Ohio, another sister, Mrs. J. C. Gorham, Lexington; and a brother, L. S. English, Lexington; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon Dec. 4, at the Kerr Brothers Funeral Home by the Rev. L. B. Scarborough. Burial was in the Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 o'clock last Friday afternoon at the Guyn, Kurtz, & Hager Funeral Home for Hubert Welch (Pup) English, 40, a native of Nicholasville, who died at his home in Cincinnati, Tuesday, Jan. 27, (1948) after several weeks illness. He was a son of the late LaFayette and Elizabeth Duncan English. He was an electrician and was formerly employed as picture operator at the Park Theater in Nicholasville for a number of years. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Mayme Murphy, a daughter, Miss Betty Jo English; two brothers, Chester and Delos English, of Nicholasville; a half-sister, Mrs. Minnie Peel, of Nicholasville; two half-brothers, C. ENGLISH, JACK LAFAYETTE
Jack Lafayette English, 88, of Garden Springs Drive, Lexington, died Thursday, May 6, (1976). He was a retired City Policeman. Before his retirement he was a patrolman in the downtown Lexington area from 1926 until 1946. He was a native of Jessamine County and was the son of the late Leroy and Tallula (Brumfield) English. He was a veteran of World War I, and was a member of the Arlington Christian Church. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Edith Hambrick English; a son, Joe English, of Lexington; a stepson, Louis Kincaid of Anchorage, Alaska; and a sister, Mrs. Jess Gorham. Also survived by a niece, Mrs. Scott (Myrtie) Waters, and a nephew, Robert M. Suell, both of Nicholasville. Funeral services were held Monday morning at the W. R. Milward Mortuary Broadway by the Rev. A. Guy Waldrop. Burial was in the Lexington Cemetery.

L. F. English, 87 years old, died at his home at Mt. Lebanon (April 22, 1923), about six miles from Nicholasville, where he conducted a merchandise store for the last 40 years. He was a member of the Masonic lodge for 58 years. He was twice married and is survived by 14 children, William R. English, of Lexington; James Edward English and Green English, of Hamilton, Ohio; John P. English and Robert K. English, of Hammond, Ind., Grover C. English, of Detroit, Mich., C. C. ENGLISH, LEROY MONROE
Leroy M. English died suddenly at his home near Pink, Friday morning, Jan. 1, (1909) of heart trouble. The day before Mr. English had served as election officer and appeared to be in his usual health. The attack came shortly after eating breakfast. He was one of the best known men in the county, having for years been an active Democrat and prominent in county politics. He was at one time a member of the Democratic county committee and was deputy sheriff under the late Z. T. Chrisman. He is survived by a wife and eight children. L. F. English, the Mt. Lebanon merchant, is a brother of the deceased. The funeral services were held at the home place Saturday afternoon in the presence of an unusually large crowd of people. The Odd Fellows were in charge of the services and the remains were interred in the Pink burying ground.

Mrs. Mary Currie English, 92, of 116 Liberty Street, Nicholasville, died Monday morning, December 12, (1983) at the Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington, after an extended illness. She was a daughter of the late Walton and Mary W. Currie and the widow of Robert C. English. She was a member of the Baptist Church. Survivors include several nieces, Mrs. Myrtle Robinson, Mrs. Lucille Twaddell, Mrs. Alma Blakeman, Mrs. Irma Hughes, Mrs. Georgia Filer, Mrs. Oakley Lee and Mrs. Stanley Jones, and a newphew, Buell English. Graveside services were held at the Maple Grove Cemetery Wednesday afternoon, with Rev. Tom Miller officiating. Visitation was held at the Guyn, Kurtz, Hager and Cundiff Funeral Home on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m.

Lancaster--Mary Isbell English, 69, of Route 4, wife of Buell English, died yesterday (May 30, 1984) at Fort Logan Hospital in Stanford after a long illness. Ramsey Funeral Home in charge of arrangements, which were incomplete last night.

ENGLISH, NORRIS
Norris English, 2436 Eastway Drive, an employee of the Lexington Transit Co., died unexpectedly at 6:50 a.m. yesterday (December 2, 1960) at Good Samaritan Hospital. English associated with the company for 20 years, suffered a heart attack while at work and was taken to the hospital. A native of Jessamine County, he was a son of the late William R. and Nannie English. He was a member of the Northern Heights Christian Church. He was a past president and business agent of the Almalgamated Association of Street Electric Railway and Motor Coach Employees of America, Division No. 639. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Gloria Feeback English; two sons, William Norris English and Norris G. English, both of Lexington; a daughter, Mrs. Paul Rosen, Long Island, N. Y., and three sisters, Mrs. F. E. Twaddell, Lexington; Mrs. Claude McGinnis, Frankfort, and Mrs. George Filer, Dawson Springs, Ky. The body was taken to the W. R. Milward Mortuary - Broadway where services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Monday by the Rev. Jack Conder. Burial will be in the Lexington Cemetery.

ENGLISH, ROBERT K.
Robert English, of Titusville, Fla., died Wednesday, May 31 (1972). He was a native of Jessamine County, and a son of the late Lafayette English. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Mary English, of Titusville, and a number of nephews and nieces, including Mrs. Clarence Robinson and Mrs. Edward Johns, both of Nicholasville, and a number of great-nephews and nieces. The body will be brought to the Guyn, Kurtz & Hager Funeral Home.

ENGLISH, SARAH UNDERWOOD
Died at the residence of her husband, Mr. Lafayette English, near Mt. Lebanon, on the 3rd inst., (Aug. 1896) Mrs. Sarah English, aged 52 years. The deceased had been a member of the Christian Church for 35 years and her neighbors spoke of her as a true christian character. Mrs. English leaves a husband and eleven children, seven boys and four girls. The funeral services took place from the residence Tuesday, conducted by Rev. F. W. Noland. Much sympathy is expressed for the family in the loss of this affectionate wife, good mother and a kind neighbor.

ENGLISH, WILLIAM EZRA
Funeral services were held at 2:30 o'clock last Friday afternoon at the Little Hickman Christian Church for William Ezra English, 71, of Jessamine County, who died at his home at Antioch, Wednesday (March 9, 1949). Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Jennie Miller English; a daughter, Mrs. Odell Hager, of Jessamine County; four sisters, Mrs. Albert Suell, Nicholasville; Mrs. Reas Suell and Mrs. Everett Thomasson, Jessamine County, and Mrs. J. C. Gorham, Lexington; two brothers, G. R. English and L. F. English, Lexington, and a grandson. Rev. Zeke Moore officiated and burial was in the family burying ground at Little Hickman.

ENGLISH, WILLIAM RADFORD
William R. English, 67 years old, crane operator for the C. & O. Railroad for the past 11 years, died Monday afternoon (February 13, 1933) after an illness of several weeks. He was the son of the late L. F. and Sarah Underwood English, and was born and reared in Jessamine County. Mr. English was for 12 years a member of the Lexington police department, a member of Council No. 53, Junior Order of United American Mechanics, and a member of the Broadway Christian Church. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Nannie Lewis English; four daughters, Mrs. C. W. McGinnis, of Frankfort; Mrs. H. M. King, and Mrs. George Filer and Mrs. Ellsworth Twaddell, all of Lexington; and one son, Norris English, of Portsmouth, Ohio; three grandchildren, three sisters, Mrs. A. B. Blakeman, Mrs. S. J. Peel and Mrs. Henry Adams, all of Nicholasville; three brothers, C. C. English, of Nicholasville; Dr. John P. English and R. K. English, both of Hammond, Ind., and three half-brothers, Delos English, of Lexington; Chester and Hubert English, both of Nicholasville.

ENOCH, ALEXANDER
Alexander Enoch, after a prolonged fight with the white plague, passed away, Sept. 3, 1909, at the county hospital at St. Joseph, Mo. His wife, Mrs. Mary Hager Enoch, did not receive the intelligence till Wednesday, by letter from Wm. Enoch, a brother, at Danville, who enclosed the telegram he had received from the hospital superintendent, who stated that the body had been buried there. (rest of obit unreadable)

ETHINGTON, C.V., SR.
C.V. Ethington, Sr., a Jessamine County farmer and tobacco warehouse businessman, died of complications from an aneurysm yesterday at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington. He was 82 and lived on North Third Street in Nicholasville.
